Je’ne-Je’ne Sappara ritual- Analysis of its history and existence as a subsystem of trust in the Liukang Tupabbiring fishing community in Pangkep Regency

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the history, symbolic meaning and existence of the rituals of je'ne je'be sappara as one of the subsystems of belief in the fishing community of Liukang Tupabbiring in Pangkep district. This research is an inductive-descriptive study using discourse analysis as a research method. The results showed that socio-economic activities and behavior are influenced by the system of fishermen's trust. the manifestation of their social activities and socio-economic behavior is a reflection of their appreciation, understanding and knowledge of the rituals of je'ne-je'ne sappara. the existence of a fishing community in this region is determined by the reflection of deep beliefs and their relevance to the dynamics of their lives. The degree of the value of this ritual is largely determined by dynamism in all aspects of the life of the fishermen themselves.
