Abstract

High precision machining is possible in present era because of non-conventional machining methods like EDM, WEDM, AJM, ECM and many more. In present research study, EDM method is applied to optimize the selective process parameters of EDM machine on high strength steel material EN-08. In present study, four process parameters are selected which are T-on, T-off, Current and Pressure. Each factor has four levels as per machine range. Pilot experiments are also performed to find the exact range of machining parameters. Pilot experiments are based on “One factor vary and others constant” concept. After pilot experiments, Design of experiment (DOE) method called Taguchi method is applied to find the minimum experiments for this research study. L-16 orthogonal array is selected for this research study.
