Panorama of agriculture carried out in the municipality of Naviraí in the year 2021/2022 and its impacts on the economy of the municipality and region

This work aimed to carry out an overview of agriculture carried out in the municipality of Naviraí/MS in the years 2021/2022 and its impacts on the economy of the municipality and region. In Naviraí, IAGRO controls 946 property records and AGRAER serves 285 family farmers who sell their produce for school meals (PNAE) and also serve local businesses. Today, the municipality has become a pole municipality in the south of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Favored by the agribusiness that has leveraged the economy of the municipality and region, mainly by the production of sugarcane, soy and corn that has reached production records every year and also an increase in areas destined for agriculture, where currently the municipality stands out for having cultivated more than 120,000 hectares of soybeans in the last harvest, an area that has been growing every year in all cultures, that is, agribusiness has strengthened the municipality's economy, which has made the municipality not only a hub in southern region of the state, but also a reference for agribusiness in the state, a situation confirmed by the city's GDP Per Capita, today it ranks 12th in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. In 2000, in the municipality of Naviraí, the agricultural area was 39,068 hectares in 2021 it increased to 120 thousand hectares, when compared to the area destined for temporary agriculture in the year 2000 it was 39,068 hectares in 2021 the municipality had 120 thousand hectares destined to temporary agriculture. When we look at the land use map of the municipality of Naviraí in 2000, only 10,972 hectares were used for planting soybeans in the municipality, in 2021 soybeans were planted in 120 thousand hectares in the municipality, an increase of more than 995%, which shows that agriculture has grown a lot in the municipality of Naviraí, occupying a prominent position in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Dozens of companies and industries linked to agribusiness are installed in the municipality, such as JBS (slaughtering and tannery), Usina Rio Amambai and Copasul, each generating hundreds of jobs, especially Copasul, which had revenues in 2021 of R$3, 3 billion, generates approximately 1 thousand jobs and is the main company in Mato Grosso do Sul. Family farming in the municipality plays an important role in this scenario, since several products produced in the reed settlement and green district are marketed for school lunches and marketed within the municipality and in the region, strengthening agricultural activity in the municipality.
