Abstract

John Millington Synge (1871-1909), prominent figure of Irish literature. In his Riders to the Sea written in 1902 and this was considered one of the finest one- act play. The purpose of this article is to show how Synge followed the classical unities of tragedy and how his characters and settings portraying the ancient Greek tragedians rather than Shakespearean tragedies.
